El Proyecto del Barrio's Family Health Care Clinic in Arleta provides services to the growing underserved population in the East San Fernando Valley. The Center has proved a vital health link for the community, with consistent growth in the number of medical visits completed at the Family Health Clinic. Last year, the clinic totaled 32,000 medical visits, with a total patient population of nearly 11,000 persons. The vast majority of these patients had no other health care options in the local community with 90 percent of the families living below 200% of the federal poverty level.
The Family Health Care Clinic-Arleta provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community through its Family Health Care Clinics, including Family Practice Medical Services, Obstetrics and Gynecology Services, Pediatric Medicine, HIV Testing and Treatment, CPSP Program, Family Planning Counseling, Mammography and other X-Ray services, Laboratory, Immunization Services and the El Proyecto del Barrio Mobile Clinic.
Since inception in 1971, El Proyecto has earned a reputation for excellence and providing "Esperanza" (hope) to the community. For more than three decades El Proyecto has strived to expand and enhance the services provided to the community. Today the organization operates Family Health Care Clinics in the greater San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley and East Los Angeles and serves an area covering more than 400 square miles. These clinics provide more than 70,000 annual medical encounters.
