El Proyecto del Barrio's Family Health Care Clinics total more than 70,000 annual patient contacts. The clinics are operated in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, and East Los Angeles. Additional services are provided at three school-based clinics in partnership with the Los Angeles Unified School District and by a mobile medical services clinic that provides services throughout Los Angeles County. El Proyecto's IPA, with 12 state-sponsored and commercial contracts, provides care to 9,000 members through its network of 100 contracted providers and hospitals. We provide free on-site mammograms to thousands of women through our Guadalupe Ramirez Breast Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program. El Proyecto del Barrio delivers more immunizations than any other private provider in Los Angeles County. These immunizations services have been repeatedly recognized for excellence by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. In keeping with our mission, all medical treatment is provided to whomever is in need regardless of their ability to pay for services rendered. Health and medical services are provided at the following locations:

Family Health Care Clinic-East San Fernando Valley:

Provides services to the growing underserved population in the East San Fernando Valley. The Center, located in Arleta had proved a vital health link for the community, with consistent growth in the number of medical visits completed at the Family Health Clinic. Last year, the clinic totaled 32,000 medical visits, with a total patient population of nearly 11,000 persons. The vast majority of these patients had no other health care options in the local community with 90 percent of the families living below 200% of the federal poverty level. The Family Health Care Clinic-Arleta provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community, including Family Practice Medical Services, Obstetrics and Gynecology Services, Pediatric Medicine, HIV Testing and Treatment, CPSP Program, Family Planning Counseling, Mammography and other X-Ray services, Laboratory, Immunization Services and the El Proyecto del Barrio Mobile Clinic.

S. Mark Taper Foundation Center for a Health Community & Family Care Clinic-West San Fernando Valley:

El Proyecto del Barrio's S. Mark Taper Foundation Center for a Health Community, provides health services to the growing underserved population in the West San Fernando Valley through its Family Health Care Clinic-West San Fernando Valley. The Center, located in Winnetka, has proved a vital health link for the community, with an average growth of nearly 20 percent per year in the number of medical visits completed at the Family Health Clinic. Last year, the clinic totaled 33,000 medical visits, with a total patient population of over 10,000 persons. The vast majority of these patients had no other health care options in the local community, with 90 percent of the families living below 200% of the federal poverty level.

The S. Mark Taper Center for a Health Community provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community through its Family Health Care Clinic, including Family Practice Medical Services, Obstetrics and Gynecology Services, Pediatric Medicine, HIV Testing and Treatment, CPSP Program, Family Planning Counseling, Laboratory and Immunization Services.

Family Health Care Clinic-San Gabriel Valley:

El Proyecto del Barrio's Family Health Center-San Gabriel Valley has been a fixture in the community since 1918. The health center, located in Azusa, was founded by community leader and philanthropist Kate Slauson Vosburg in 1918. It was operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services from 1931 through October 2002, when it was one of 11 county health clinics that were closed because of the County's fiscal crisis. It was reopened by the City of Azusa in collaboration with El Proyecto del Barrio in March 2004. Today, the clinic is treating more than 250 patients per month. The Health Center completed more than 3,000 patient encounters in 2004. The vast majority of these patients had no other health care options in the local community.

The Azusa Health Center provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community, including Adult Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Immunization, Family Planning, Health Education, Laboratory and HIV Testing.

Family Health Care Clinic-East Los Angeles:

Provides services to the underserved population in the greater East L.A. area. The Center provides a critical health link for the community. Last year, the clinic totaled more than 1,500 medical visits, with a total patient population of nearly 650 persons. More than 40 percent of the clinics patients are children. The vast majority of the clinic's patients had no other health care options in the local community, with 90 percent of the families living below 200% of the federal poverty level. The Family Health Care Clinic-East L.A. provides a number of accessible and affordable health care services for the community, including Outpatient Medical Services, Family Practice Medical Services, Pediatric Medicine, Mobile Unit Mammography, Laboratory, Immunization Services and the outreach to the community through El Proyecto del Barrio's Mobile Clinic.

HIV Program-Arleta:

El Proyecto del Barrio's HIV Program in Arleta provides services to the burgeoning HIV population in the East San Fernando Valley. The program has more than 150 adult clients, of which 80 percent are men. Last year, the program totaled 1,500 medical encounters, completed 1,600 counseling and testing visits, and had 1,332 case management visits. The vast majority of these clients had no other health care options in the local community, with the vast majority of the individuals living below 200% of the federal poverty level. The HIV Program-Arleta provides Medical Outpatient Services, HIV Testing and Counseling, Case Management, Health Education & Risk Management and Nutritional Services. Mental Health Services are provided by a Psychologist, Psychiatrist and Clinical Social Worker

Substance Abuse Services/Mental Health:

This outpatient program provides counseling and referrals to clients with substance abuse and mental health problems. El Proyecto's Substance Abuse Program provides services for women who are pregnant, postpartum or parenting. The program is staffed by bilingual and drug-certified counselors who assist clients in areas including domestic violence/sexual abuse, self-esteem, peer support, life skills, health education, drug education, and parenting. The Proposition 36 Program provides services to first or second time non-violent drug offenders, who receive treatment rather than incarceration. General Relief recipients with substance abuse issues are also treated in the program.
